Curtis – My Pride Story

“Being a conversion therapy survivor I am faced with a unique way to show my Pride. I am proud to be a conversion therapy survivor. Conversion therapy aims to strip LGBTQ people of their Pride and transform them into a being driven by shame and fear. It is the survivor who says no to that effort and refuses to give up on themselves, no matter how hard it is. I will always struggle with remnants of my “therapy;” however, I have moved forward, accepted myself, and become the Queer I was always meant to be. My Pride comes from knowing I have been able to transform my pain and use it to fight back against the institutions that would harm others. Happy Pride!” Curtis from Los Angeles. #PersonalStories
