5th Annual Personal Stories Project Palm Springs Pride Celebration and Fundraising Event! We’re looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 8th, between 4 and 7 pm! Here are a few important details (and apologies in advance, as it’s a long one, but full of important info): Additional Guests: You are welcome to bring additional guests. If you haven’t already let me know about a potential “+1” (or more) please make sure everyone is registered using this link https://personalstoriesproject.org/event-registration/. Address: We are located in Rio del Sol, off of Gerald Ford, in Cathedral City. Our major east-west cross streets are Date Palm and DaVall, and our exact address is 69548 Camino Buenavida. Enter from the Gerald Ford gate, east of Date Palm. I have left your name with the gate; if there is no attendant on duty, please ring 533 or 538 from the keypad. That will ring either Joseph or myself and we’ll buzz you in. Look for the rainbow flag flying proudly above our front door and our Personal Stories Project banner and you will have found the right house. Parking: Due to the new houses on our street parking can be limited. You should be able to find parking in front of the houses on Camino Buenavida (please DON’T block any driveways or fire hydrants). There are also several guest parking lots a short walk away. The closest guest parking lot to us is located near the clubhouse, next to the tennis courts, just after you enter Rio del Sol, but it’s a bit of a hike from our house. Please note that no parking is allowed on Paseo del Sol itself. Consider car pooling or using Uber or Lyft. Food & Beverages: We’ll have plenty of food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available on a self-serve basis throughout the event. Dress Code: Dress comfortably for our warm desert climate – come as you are! We’re pretty casual around here! Event Timeline: We’ll start at 4 pm and “officially” end at 7 pm (although I expect the party may run a little later, based on past experience). The “program” portion will happen around 5:30 or 6 pm where we’ll share a little about The Personal Stories Project, DAP Health, and have our prize drawings. We realize that there’s a lot going on since it’s Pride weekend and appreciate you joining us! Raffle Prizes and Additional Donations: We have more than a dozen raffle prizes this year including gift baskets, hotel packages, themed merchandise, and more! Beat the lines onsite! Get your raffle tickets in advance via this link: https://personalstoriesproject.org/raffle/. You will also be able to obtain them at the event with cash or credit card. $5 gets you 1 raffle ticket, $10 gets you 3, $25 gets you 9, $50 gets you 20, and $100 gets you 50. If you find that you’re unable to attend, you can also make a direct donation with your credit card via this link: https://personalstoriesproject.org/donation-form/ All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and 10% of all proceeds received will be donated to DAP Health, our focus charity for this annual event. Your donations (and raffle ticket purchases) also help support these 20+ other community-serving organizations through our annual giving program.
DAP Health: We are honored to have DAP Health, formerly Desert AIDS Project, as our focus charity again this year. Founded in 1984 by a group of community volunteers in the face of the AIDS crisis, DAP has been the Coachella Valley’s primary not-for-profit resource for those living with, affected by, or at-risk for HIV or AIDS. Today, they are a Federally Qualified Health Center with the goal of improving the overall health of our entire community, especially the disenfranchised. DAP provides comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary and preventative health care services including; primary medical care, HIV and Hepatitis specialty care, dentistry, behavioral health and social services all-under-one-roof. Clothing and Hygiene Amenity Donations: Your donations of “gently used” clothing and hygiene amenities such as soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. as well as kits to “stuff” them in such as business class amenity kits, makeup bags, and similar are very much welcome! Each December we deliver them along with clothing donations to DAP Health for distribution to their clients in need. Contact Info: My number is 323 855 3081 and Joseph’s is 310 801 3712. If you have any questions or need to reach us for any reason on the day of or before, please reach out to either of us. We look forward to seeing you Saturday! Best Regards, Charles & Joseph, and The Personal Stories Project team Everyone has a story.
