Earlier this year, Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams was spotted carrying a Canadian Tire red-and-black plaid reusable bag while in Toronto, prompting fans to search for the same $1.99 tote. The sudden interest in the everyday shopping bag led to a surge in demand, with fans sharing their purchases and reporting that the bag had sold out at stores across Canada.

The unexpected popularity of the bag comes as Williams’ profile continues to grow following the success of Heated Rivalry, in which he plays hockey star Shane Hollander. The show’s fandom has previously driven interest in clothing and other items associated with Williams and his character, including the Team Canada fleece worn in the series.

Canadian Tire has now responded to the enthusiasm surrounding the reusable bag by announcing that 100% of the net proceeds from every bag sold since August 1 will be donated to Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/)

Jumpstart Charities is Canadian Tire’s charitable organization focused on helping children and young people access sport and physical activity. The donation means the unexpected shopping-bag craze sparked by Williams will now help support youth sports across Canada.
