I am often asked why people feel a need to fly the Pride flag.

I know people who are offended by all the colorful June rainbows in their midst.

I fly the flag for the closeted teen who lives down my street

For the older couple who fought hard for marriage equality and paved the way for my son. 

I fly it because many of my friends and family still embrace the notion that being gay (or trans, or anything on the rainbow spectrum) is sinful.
