Garland – My Pride Story

“This Pride month I am celebrating accepting all of me. I am a Black. Trans. Woman. Those are three parts of myself that I’ve realized I have to embrace all of. I worked very hard on accepting the trans woman part of myself, but never fully embraced my blackness. Trying so hard to assimilate in this white world, I unconsciously over looked what being black means to me. I’ve started my journey of acknowledging my blackness by embracing my natural hair. The only problem I ever had with being black, was my kinky hair. But I can’t think of a better time than now to truly love, accept, and embrace all of my blackness from head to toe, and everything else that comes with it… I am a Trans Woman…who happens to be Black! And I am proud of all of me.” Garland from Los Angeles
